My Story

Dr. Jennifer “Kaylene” Carter began working in the entertainment industry at the age of thirteen, alongside many up-and-coming stars in Orlando’s pop music scene. As a teenager, she transitioned from acting to singing. Kaylene recorded her first solo album (which she wrote and coproduced) during her senior year of high school. She also worked as a dancer and a runway model, making several appearances on both national and international television. A second solo album followed, which showcased her artistic versatility and style. Taking her love of lyric to the next level, Kaylene pursued advanced degrees in Creative Writing and Entertainment Business. She went on a music autobiography, two poetry chapbooks, and had many individual poems published by the CPTSD Foundation. Working as a writing professor for five years, she encountered many students who were struggling with trauma. Her continuing education efforts have since focused on childhood and adolescent trauma, as well as expressive arts therapy. This led Dr. Kaylene to become a Bethel certified life coach and Pongo certified mentor.

Walk with Kaylene as she takes you on an inspirational journey along Radnor Lake, through poetry and pictures from her personal collection.

An entertainer opens up about the dangers of “taking your work home with you” and reveals the internal struggle she faced spiritually when the pressure to perform professionally manifested in her personal life.

Just in time for the holiday season, Kaylene takes it back to the 90’s Orlando scene she grew up in with this poppy, romantic duet.

Jennifer “Kaylene” Carter is a singer-songwriter and poet. This is her first chapbook, in which she shares stories of love and heartbreak. The deeper one delves into passion, the more intense the heartbreak of love lost. Nevertheless, love is always worth the risk.

“Intrinsically” features diverse, original songs from Kaylene’s growing collection, including jazz, acoustic pop, lounge, and adult contemporary.

“Transcending” combines ambient, trip-hop groove with Kaylene’s sweet, haunting melodies.

Produced by Brett Hestla, Kaylene’s third solo project is an inspirational pop EP that takes her back to her Contemporary Christian roots.

Holdin' Out

When I first moved to L.A. to work on my music, I found the pace very fast and the people not on the same page as me (a hopeless romantic). I wrote this after a conversation I had with a friend back home about holding out for a good guy…

“Just Enough Light” is the first single from Kaylene’s third indie project- an inspirational pop EP that takes her back to her CCM roots.
